Welcome to Lower Key Stage Two,
In our key stage the children are aged between 7 and 9. We have three classes one year 3 class, a mixed year 3 and 4 class and a year 4 class. The school day starts at 8.50 and finished at 3.15 it is important to ensure your child is in class for 8.50 to complete their morning learning task during register so they are ready to start lessons at 9.00.

Our Summer topic is Land Ahoy!
We will be finding out about the Anglo- Saxon and Viking invaders and settlers - where they came from and why they came. In Geography we will be completing map work and comparing UK with Scandinavia as well as looking at how settlements differ and change. During science lessons we will be exploring sound, how it travels and how it can be changed.
Please support us in school by listening to your child read at least three times a week and record this in their reading log. Reading logs can be brought into school from a Wednesday to be stamped in class. Once a child has 3 stamps they will receive a sticker on the reading chart and after 10 stickers each child will receive a prize.
Please find below the story Operation Gadgetman by Malorie Blackman. Children have questions on each chapter included in their home learning packs
Please help your children practise any spellings sent home these can also be practised using spelling shed. Find below a list of year 3 and 4 statutory spellings that children are expected to know.

In school we use White Rose Maths planning to support our teaching and learning. Below is a link to a series of lessons for each year group.
White Rose Maths
Corbett Maths provides questions covering a range of Mathematical topics. There are four levels of difficulty and problems are set each day. These are suitable for Key Stage Two.
In June the year 4 children will complete a timetable test. At the end of year 4 the national curriculum states that children should know all of the multiplication facts up to 12 x 12. Children all have a login to practise these using Timetable Rockstars. The format of the test is very similar to the sound check area on Rockstars. Children in year 4 will be tested weekly using this to ensure they are familiar with the test format and help them to continue to improve their scores.
PE kits are as follows:
- School white T-shirt
- Black shorts
- Suitable trainers / plimsolls
A track suit can be worn in the winter months. No baggy T-Shirts as these can be dangerous. Parents are responsible for ensuring their child brings their PE kit (Swimming bag) to school when needed.
No jewellery is allowed to be worn during swimming or P.E. as it can get caught on the equipment.
Although we do have set PE days the timetable in school may change due to other events happening in school so we ask children to bring the PE kit to school on a Monday and leave it until Friday. Now the weather is starting to get a little bit warmer we will also try to get outside when we can.
