Our Autumn topic is Treasure

As we are unable to visit Weston Park Museum this term, we have received a special package from them instead. Children have used their inference skills to work out that our topic this term will be based around the Ancient Egyptians. Children have been finding out about modern day Egypt, where Egypt is and comparing it to the UK. They have been very interested in Egyptian Heiroglyphics and are keen to find out more about some of the artefacts. We will be looking at daily life in the Ancient Egyptian times and finding out about the achievements they made.

Please support us in school by listening to your child read at least three times a week and record this in their reading log. Reading logs can be brought into school from a Wednesday to be stamped in class. Once a child has 3 stamps they will receive a sticker on the reading chart and after 10 stickers each child will receive a prize.

Please help your children practise any spellings sent home these can also be practised using spelling shed. Find below a list of year 3 and 4 statutory spellings that children are expected to know.

Maths Resources

In school we use White Rose Maths planning to support our teaching and learning. Below is a link to a series of lessons for each year group.
White Rose Maths

Corbett Maths provides questions covering a range of Mathematical topics. There are four levels of difficulty and problems are set each day. These are suitable for Key Stage Two.
Corbett Maths

In June the year 4 children will complete a timetable test. At the end of year 4 the national curriculum states that children should know all of the multiplication facts up to 12 x 12. Children all have a login to practise these using Timetable Rockstars. The format of the test is very similar to the sound check area on Rockstars. Children in year 4 will be tested weekly using this to ensure they are familiar with the test format and help them to continue to improve their scores.

Due to the current situation children will not be getting changed for PE in school so we ask that they come to school in their PE kit on their PE days.

LKS2 PE Days

Class 6  Tuesday
Class 5  Tuesday
Class 4  Wednesday

PE kits are as follows:

  • School white T-shirt
  • Black shorts
  • Suitable trainers / plimsolls

A track suit can be worn in the winter months. No baggy T-Shirts as these can be dangerous.  Parents are responsible for ensuring their child brings their PE kit (Swimming bag) to school when needed.

No jewellery is allowed to be worn during swimming or P.E. as it can get caught on the equipment.
