Welcome to our school!
I am delighted to welcome you on behalf of the staff, governors and children to Swinton Queen Primary School.
The aim of our website is to give you some information about our school, our aims and objectives and our activities.
We feel it is very important that the atmosphere across school – from EYFS to Y6 - is welcoming and one of caring and sharing for each other. We believe that learning is inclusive, engaging, challenges thinking, develops curiosity, supports independence and creates resilience.
We aspire to a holistic curriculum, which is based on first-hand experience. Also, we think it is crucial to involve the children and their families as partners in their education. This positive partnership supports children to achieve the highest possible standards, not only in their work but in their attitudes to life and their future as good citizens, it is necessary for them to be taught social skills, develop positive attitudes, promote mutual respect and support diversity.
We also believe that it is essential for the staff, who work with the children, to be lifelong learners and this is why we are very committed to our professional development and achievement.
We offer a Breakfast Club each morning on the school site. We have a wide variety of extra-curricular clubs available to the children across school. At lunchtime a wide variety of playground equipment is available as well as a football area and cargo net area. We hold several external accreditations of which we are very proud e.g. Basic Skills Quality Mark and Healthy Schools Award and we are currently working towards Arts mark.
We are an ITT school working with York St. John University nurturing and mentoring the educators of the future.
Swinton Queen Primary has a hugely committed team, wonderful children and supportive families. Therefore, we trust that you and your family find Swinton Queen Primary to be a welcoming and friendly environment and one in which your child will feel safe, secure and valued.
