Personal Development at SQP
At Swinton Queen, we use Personal Development (PD) as an umbrella term for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE), and anywider curriculum opportunities. Our curriculum supports children to develop holistically and improve their opportunities, both now and into adulthood. We understand the role in which our school plays in allowing children to build their character, skills, knowledge and attitudes which can then be applied and utilised both within the classroom and beyond.
We are committed to ensuring that all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), have their individual needs met and supported. Our inclusive approach to education extends to every child, ensuring they have the necessary support and resources to thrive.

RSE
Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) is an integral part of the schools programme for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development and is delivered through the RE, PSHCE and Science curriculum. It is a central part of our commitment to the promotion of a healthy, safe and balanced lifestyle. As of September 2020, the school has a statutory duty to follow the requirements for RSE and Health Education. Relationships Education and Health Education is compulsory in all primary schools in England and Relationships and Sex Education compulsory in all secondary schools.

Assemblies
At Swinton Queen Primary School, we have developed a comprehensive documentation of assembly plans that outlines a progressive curriculum from Early Years to Year 6. This ensures that our pupils receive a structured and cohesive learning experience, fostering their personal development, social awareness, and understanding of fundamental values. Our assemblies actively promote British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. Through this carefully planned approach, we aim to equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to become responsible, respectful, and effective citizens by the time they leave Year 6.
